MzaziConnect is a mobile application focused on enhancing communication and engagement between parents and teachers, specifically related to managing and tracking a child's assignments. The app offer features such as real-time updates, notifications for upcoming assignments, and a Material Locator to assist parents in finding the necessary materials for their child's assignments.

In Kenya, parental engagement and communication on children's assignments under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) face challenges. Parents struggle with last-minute preparations due to insufficient information on required resources.

To gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and needs related to the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), we conducted research involving 104 participants, including parents, students, teachers, school administrators, and curriculum experts. Additionally, we utilized empathy maps to understand the perspectives, emotions, and pain points of teachers and parents. These insights guided the design of user features and communication styles, aiming to create an engaging and user-centered app that meets the unique needs of teachers and parents. The empathy maps served as a constant reference throughout the design and development process, validating assumptions and ensuring a user-centric approach.

To tackle these challenges, we developed an app that boost parental engagement and communication in the (CBC) implementation. The app sends timely notifications preparation window for required resources and provides real-time geolocation-based suggestions for material locations, aiming to enhance collaboration between schools and parents.

We also created an informational website and a dashboard.

The dashboard was like a helpful tool for schools. It helped them manage teachers, students, and parents easily. In the dashboard, they could make, change, or remove profiles for teachers, students, and parents. They could also add subjects and classes. It made things organized and simple for schools.
